In Memory of James C. Ladner Sr.

Before you look at the Picture below. I want you to see my dad through my eyes .As you read I want you to know that there will never be enough room to describe what he meant to his children and my mother.
 My Father'
I remember my father jingling the change in his pockets full of change for the grandchildren. That was a sign for them to scatter quickly to the center of the floor. He would toss the money into the middle of the floor and laugh watching the grand kids scoop up the change. Most of the time he would take them straight off to the store to let them pick out goodies.
The family loved to visit him. When you walked through the front door .. Whether he has seen you twice that day or more.  He sat close to the door so he could grab your hand as you walked through. He always patted your hand when you left.
He always loved Holidays . He would always know that the family gathered with some the Best dishes in the world. When we threw down food we were talking about no counter space left, tables full, and no space for napkins or even silverware. He always had to pop open the button on his jeans as we all did after  all the great food.
He planted a garden every year.  Peas, okra, tomatoes , green onion, turnip greens, mustard greens and even corn. He would sow and plow and pick his on garden. He was very active and loved to watch his garden grow. And what a beautiful garden he planted.
He was the type of man that believed that a handshake was good enough and it sealed a deal.
If someone broke this honor my father just consider them not to be real men and never bothered with that person ever again.
He had a way to brighten a room with his jokes and he loved to pick on his (HEALTHY SIZED DAUGHTERS) He always picked with us saying a Circus In Town ... We can get us a dress now... The Tent was big enough to fit around us... He loved picking around. His humour was what every one loved him for. If my father did not pick at you then he just DIDN't LIKE YOU !
He loved hunting ( real Hunting) He was an x Game Warden and he believed if you killed it eat it. We would get up early in the morning and he would pack sardines , potted meat , orange soda pop , stageplanks and crakers for our meal while deer hunting.  I can still hear our beagles running through the woods dad with my brothers standing in the woods and waiting for the deer.
This man was great father to each of his children. He would take the shirt off of his back to help his kids. But he was also giving to people that he just met. He was the nicest man I have known. He loved giving to others. When he could help someone he would shake from being excited.
He gave us our first chance of starting a life and  I thank HIM for that. He was so excited about helping us get our first home.He helped build every inch of my home. He would get me up at the break of dawn .... lets go to work. We built the house from floor up together.
I have many fond memories  of my father...
But my favorite is of him going to the store and he would ask every one what they wanted... we would say Dr. Pepper & Dorito's ... He was so cute he would come back with a 7-up and a stage plank. This was just my dad.
He loved medal detecting, He has found some beautiful jewelry that others have lost. His favorite spot was called  Turkey Fork. He would wade up to his neck in search for rings , necklace's and goodies.... Most time he would come home with old change and that would be it but he loved the hunt.

He loved Fishing with my older Brother J.C. He would always talk about the fishing trips they took. He would brag about how many fish him and J.C. would get. He loved having a fish fry shortly after.
When you think about a man that was a true grit Out of the book Great man . I hope you think about my father.
He was never declared a Hero. But to me he was the only man that I can call a Hero !
He was Diagnosed with Heart Failure. We watcthed a man that was roaming through the Mountains in Colorado a few months before on his last vacation with us....to a man that could not even sit up by himself months later.
His heart was failing him but his spirit was fighting to stay with the family he loved. He was the strongest fighter I have ever seen but God In Heaven wanted to see him and took him to  his New Home in Heaven.
 On February ,08 04 !
He was a true Meaning Of Cowboy Up !
I dedicate this site  to his honor .
I love you Daddy and I miss you every Hour of every day.
You were way more than a father ! You were a friend , AND YOU ARE STILL MY
           HERO !
In your Loving Memory... Until we meet again.
        I love you Dad !
Now when you see this picture...
This is his last vacation In Durango, Colorado he went to hunt for Gold !
He never found the Gold here on Earth but he walked the road to Heaven lined with Gold. I know my father was Real Happy !
